Benjamin Graham Security
August 26th, 2008
Security Analysis is a book written by economists Benjamin Graham and David Dodd, both of the Columbia Business School, in 1934. It was written following several large and unforeseen losses on Wall Street as a way to warn investors against foolish moves - mainly by documenting those moves within its pages.
Security Analysis has since proven a staple of investing and has made multiple fortunes, most famously for Graham’s only A+ student Warren Buffet - by following the book’s tactics studiously and playing it safe with his investments Buffet slowly but surely turned into one of the wealthiest men in the world.
Security Analysis continues to be used as a textbook at Columbia (among other post secondary institutions) today, and is still an excellent resource for building an investment portfolio. It’s available for sale in quite a few larger bookstores and is probably found on any economist’s bookshelves.
